Gathering the Gold, Scarlet Thread, and Goats' Hides
In Exodus, as God was giving the plan for the tabernacle to Moses, he asked for Moses to make a call to the people of Israel to bring freewill offerings.
Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. 3 And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats’ hair, 5 tanned rams’ skins, goatskins, acacia wood, 6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. (Exodus 25:2–8, ESV)
We can learn many lessons from Exodus 25 and following.
1. God is involved in the specific details of the tabernacle. We learn in the NT that this was to be a shadow of spiritual realities.
2. The people were ready and willing to give.
3. What is often overlooked is that many of these contributions were part of the 'goodbye gifts' the people of Israel received from the Egyptians before they fled. (Exodus 12:36)
No one knew when they asked and received from the Egyptians that these would be used to build the beautiful Tabernacle of God.
But everything was prepared in advance, and all that awaited were willing hearts that would bring them to Moses.
Stage 3 of Ministry Center: Equipping the Building
We are eternally grateful for the sacrificial giving of all our praying friends and supporters. We could not have purchased this building and prepared the way for the equipping of it without you.
Stage 1: DONE
Initial support raising (matching funds) for potential location
Stage 2: DONE
Location identified and secondary support raised for the purchase and internal preparation of the building. Creation of architectural plans for internal design.
Stage 3: IN PROCESS
Equipping the building. Built-in furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, bookshelves, furniture, furnishings.
Stage 3 PLAN: Bringing in the Extended Community
We recognize that most of you, our precious supporters, have already given far beyond in generous gifts to bring us to this point.
Our goal is to begin using the ministry center by mid-summer 2026. 🙏
We are almost at the finish line, and so for this stage we have an idea for how we might be able to FINISH.
We're sharing the design of the different floors here. For each floor, there are certain elements that need sponsors.
But what we hope is that a sponsor (like a home-fellowship/ sunday school class/ homeschool group/ club/ extended family) would use creative means to fund raise in their communities.
Step one:
Choose a Furnishing that you are sponsoring (ie: Second floor kitchen)
Step two:
Plan a group fund-raiser
Fund-raising ideas include:
-
CAR WASHES
-
CHOCOLATE SALES,
-
GARAGE or YARD SALES
-
SERVICE PROJECTS (LAWN/ ERRANDS/etc)
-
CRAFT-MAKING & SELLING,
-
RACING FOR PLEDGES
-
....etc
Step three:
Let us know what furnishing you are sponsoring and we will set that aside for your group.
Step four:
When the fund-raiser is over, you will donate that to our project. (Global Church Ministries)
THE PLAQUE:
As a thank you, all of the sponsored furnishings will have a small metal plaque attached identifying the group that sponsored the furnishing.
The presence of these plaques will be a model to our congregation of the prayers and love of others in the world for our church, and will serve as a model for them to "go and do likewise."
